The vision of LifeTree Church is simple—to make authentic believers of everyone we come in contact with in all of the metro Atlanta area. For LifeTree, that may look a little different than your typical church.

We believe that small, organic communities are key to spreading the gospel, particularly in urban areas like Atlanta. While LifeTree currently has four communities in the suburbs of Atlanta, we are looking to start a work in Vinings and then to systematically move into the whole of Atlanta. As we make plans for the group in Vinings, we are spending time meeting people there, praying, and looking for that person of peace who will be instrumental in starting this new community.

It is our intent that every member of LifeTree will one day be a church planter. We are discipling our members and teaching them that they don’t have to have a formal seminary education to share the gospel. What they need is to know the Word of God and to have a very healthy prayer life.

One of the challenges we face at LifeTree is not having other local practitioners of this type of organic ministry. It can be lonely at times, but we see these challenges as gifts of grace and opportunities to grow in our faith.

Prayer is essential to what we do, so we believe that we can’t do enough prayerwalking. Everything we do must be bathed in prayer and the more people we have praying for this ministry, the better. We would specifically ask people to pray for the lost in our community, that God would soften the hearts of those investigating Him. We also ask for prayers for our members. We have set a high standard, and our prayer is that they will continue to grow and quickly develop into leaders.

Jeffrey Farmer

Jeff became a Christian at the age of seven and sensed God’s call to pastoral ministry at the age of eighteen. He earned a B.S. (1996) in Sociology at Georgia Southern University, a M.Div. (2001), a Th.M. (2004), and a Ph.D. (2007) at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Jeff has a background in evangelism and church growth and is concerned that while some churches may be “launching big,” they may be missing the opportunity to really invest in people. Jeff believes that organic communities are key to spreading the gospel in today’s culture.

He has been married to Karen Farmer since 1994. Together they have two beautiful girls—Brooke and Paige.
