Faithful Friends Baptist Church
The mission of the people of Faithful Friends Baptist Church is to do “our part in God’s plan.” We are called to evangelization, feeding and clothing “the least of these,” and sharing the Word of God and praying with them. We are called to make disciples who will make disciples.
Faithful Friends is located about two blocks from the Georgia Dome in an area that is plagued by crime, drugs, and prostitution. We believe God has called us to reach those who we pass by every day in this neighborhood, regardless of their position in society.
Faithful Friends is a three-fold ministry which began in June of 2010. The first component is Faithful Friends Baptist Church, the second is Faithful Friends Prayer/Outreach, and the third is Faithful Friends/Faithful Learner After-School Intervention Program. We are also looking to start another work in a nearby Hispanic area to reach the Spanish-speaking community.
We are praying that God would raise up a musician who is called to ministry and would be able to come and assist us with our worship services. We are also praying about a plot of land that is adjacent to our current meeting facilities as well as the two nearly vacant buildings on that property. We believe these properties would be a tremendous asset to our ministry, allowing us to expand and reach more people for Christ.
For those who would want to assist with the ministry of Faithful Friends, it is important to realize that you will need to have a “spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline,” not a spirit of timidity as Paul reminded Timothy, to reach out to this crime-filled community that desperately needs to see and experience the love of Christ.

Carnell Thomas
Carnell Thomas grew up in a rough area of Greenwood, Mississippi and at an early age found himself drawn to the streets. Between ages 16 and 19, Carnell lived a life filled with drugs, alcohol, and night clubs. At the age of 19, however, Carnell hit a low point and remembered what He had been taught as a child about God, and he asked God to restore him.
Carnell went on to attend Luther Rice Seminary and to do work for various churches, including First Baptist Church of Atlanta. Carnell knew that God had put a call on his life and so in June of 2010, he started Faithful Friends Baptist Church-Vine City to reach the people that he once was a part of.
Carnell and his wife, Barbara, have four grown children and 13 grandchildren.
