Clairmont Baptist Church
Clairmont Baptist Church is a church in Atlanta that has seen steep decline over the years as the demographics of their community have changed. Through a Vision Tour of Atlanta, God burdened J.B. Brown’s heart for the revitalization of kingdom work in this community. On July 1, 2010, J.B. became the church planter/pastor for a new church, which is the total restart of Clairmont Baptist Church.
Clairmont Church seeks to be a place that reaches people wherever they are with the gospel. As we look for ways to intersect our lives with others, we hope to connect with the many young families, couples, and singles of all races and backgrounds that make up the community. We want Clairmont to be a place that reaches people wherever they are and is active in areas where God is working. We want our church to be reflective of our diverse community so that everyone is welcome.
Reaching people in this community is challenging because of busy lifestyles. We are committed, however, to finding natural meeting places where we can build relationships with those in our community.
As we begin Clairmont, we would ask for prayer that God would show us where He is working, that God would open doors for ministry and sharing the gospel, that we would know how to best communicate the gospel, that we would have wisdom to know when God would have us launch, and that God would raise up core group members to join us.

J.B. Brown and family
J.B. Brown was born and raised in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and then graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He completed a Master’s of Divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, Tennessee prior to accepting an assignment in Southeast Asia.
J.B. and his wife, Ashley, have always found themselves drawn to urban areas. It was during their time in Southeast Asia, however, that J.B. began to sense God laying on his heart the desire to be a pastor. In response to that call, they resigned from their work in Southeast Asia and came back to the States where they began praying for God’s timing and direction. Upon returning to the States, the Browns discovered that this country had changed significantly during the time they were overseas (2000-2009). They noticed more overt opposition to the gospel and realized how God had used their time in Southeast Asia to prepare them for what He would have for them here. J.B. admits that initially he was not interested in being in the “Christian South,” however, God opened his eyes to the need here in Atlanta. After learning about Clairmont Baptist, a church in the city that was struggling to stay alive, God began to put a real burden on J.B.’s heart for churches that need revitalization and he realized that this might be the door God was opening.
J.B. and Ashley have three daughters, Natalie, Jaina, and Lexi, who are the centerpieces of their lives outside of church and ministry.
